This and That by Nadia – A Little Late September Edition

September 21st, 2024

September is very confused month in Dallas, the heat still lingers on and we try our best to welcome fall – we have pumpkins, sweet & spicy scented candles, russet foliage wreaths in stores but can you really talk about autumn decor, warm throws, crisp air and hot drinks when you can’t stand in the sun for more than two minutes? Not really – but you can for sure ponder on summers! So here is me ruminating over mine…

First off…do you guys have summer flings? I do! Here are from the last two summers…

Summer fling 2023 – Oppenheimer

Cillian Murphy oppenheimer
Universal Pictures #ad

I saw Oppenheimer TWICE in the cinema. Fell in love with Cillian Murphy’s portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist aka father of atomic bomb.

Cillian Murphy himself is da bomb. Handsome and immensely talented. Rest of the cast Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. were phenomenal in their roles. I became a fan of the visionary of this masterpiece, the director Christopher Nolan.

I often wonder what would it be like, to be inside the head of the director? How’s she/he processing everything inside the brain? I feel hopeful when I see movies like Oppenheimer. Human talents put to best use!

Summer fling 2024 – Teddy Swims

Siurce – Docle

How it started?

Lose Control

When you’re not next to me (when you’re not here with me)
I’m fallin’ apart right in front of you, can’t you see?
I lose control
When you’re not next to me, mm-hm
Yeah, you’re breakin’ my heart, baby
You make a mess of me

How it’s going…

The Door

No more thinking about you late night
No more running around with your friends now
Done picking up pieces of my soul up off the floor
I said I would die for you, baby
But I can’t take this pain no more
I thought I was willing
But tonight I save my life when I showed you the door
I don’t want to lose you, baby
But I can’t play this game no more
I thought it would kill me
But tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door

I am a sucker for good and meaningful lyrics. Teddy Swims says “I thought it would kill me, but tonight I saved my life when I showed you the door“, for a romantic relationship of his life. But I feel that I can use this powerful mantra for any relationship. This song is on top of my YouTube “safaee” playlist. I play it when I am organizing, cleaning and cooking. It keeps me energized and going. Isn’t it nice to find something to motivate you and weather the summers!!

While I am here, let me share with you few other things, international and local…
