Hello readers– how is November, the cozy, transitional month filled with holiday preparations and fall festivities going for you? Crispy and chilly? Not really that much in Dallas, although the Daylight Time Saving did a good job of giving that impression – slowly, however we are beginning to feel the days getting colder, but the dance that the Texas temperature plays with us continues.
Nonetheless, the vibe of holidays is here!

I really felt for Britney Spears for the first time!! She had a python around her neck and performed like it’s nothing. I had that thing around my neck for maybe a minute and it’s not nothing. It’s HEAVY, icky and slimy. And this was where you ask? is White Cane Safety Day. Frisco ISD celebrated the White Cane Safety Day (October 15th) with the students and their families. There was music therapy, obstacle course, petting zoo and baseball hitting station. A couple students were serving popcorn and lemonade.

I started volunteering at elementary school when my now 20 year old son started Kindergarten. He has autism so he wasn’t coming home and telling me how his day went. Volunteering was the only way for me to get an occasional peek in his school life. In no time I was on PTA Board (Parent Teacher Association).
It’s my 14th year volunteering in PTA and I absolutely love it. There are people I have met whom I am blessed to call my PTA family. Some of us have known each other for more than a decade now. We have seen our kids getting older, graduating high school and off to colleges. I often wonder, will our paths have ever crossed if not for PTA?
And that’s why it has been somewhat of a spiritual journey as well. I often think that Allah/God brought me (literally) to the other side of the planet and gave me these wonderful opportunities, experiences and people. I am all about trying new things and volunteering in PTA is one of the things I really love and enjoy and thankful for it!
As this cozy, transitional month of November is passing by, and is filled with holiday preparations and fall festivities, staying grounded can feel like a distant dream. Two things – what am I thankful for and how can I return it form a beautiful combination!

As we host, shop, and navigate the family dynamics, it’s very easy to lose sight of the joy the season is meant to bring. How about sprinkling some mindfulness into the mix? Maybe starting your day with five quiet minutes, a gratitude list over your morning or evening chai ka cup, a moment of deep breathing as you gaze at the autumn sky (of apple watch!)

So my one cent – prioritize your to-do-list with items that truly matters (hint: people over perfection). Your parties, gatherings don’t need to be Pinterest eye candies or Instagram-worthy to be magical—just intentional! Have a great Thanksgiving surrounded by love and joy of loved ones around you!!

Beautiful writing. Loved the hint “People over Perfection”
