The long-awaited Thanksgiving was taken real easy at our home this year. We have been travelling this year so we decided to take this is a complete stay-at-home break. In the past years, we either invited people to our home or were invited and it always got busy one way or other. Just as a family overall, we had very busy year so far, all productive, healthy and good but busy! Secondly, my goal for this year to declutter our home was almost done so I used this break to conclude what I had started and aimed for. A post for another time!! (here is the post!)
Although we did not throw a typical Thanksgiving party, we ended up entertaining few friends anyway. My husband cooked a signature winter dish from back home, called Paya. It is made of cow feet. With days getting chilly, and no routine to follow, paya is the best medicine to relax on lazy days.

We are so lucky to have a lovely lady, who takes care of our oldest son who as you know is neurotypical. She has now become a part of our family. The lovely lady hails from Venezuela and occasionally brings us some home-cooked goodies. Yesterday, she brought us a piece of cake that she had made. My husband and I (try to) eat very healthy and I was on my keto break so both of us really enjoyed the treat.

Other than catching up with work, decluttering, taking it easy, eating traditional Pakistani meal and Venezuelan dessert, there are two TV shows have been keeping me busy.
My husband and I started the series, Like Water for Chocolate. It is the re-make of 1992 movie which was adaptation of Laura Esquivel’s novel, a classic Spanish book of the same name, written in 1989 (English version publication year 1992). Salma Hayek Pinault is the executive producer of the HBO series and it airs every Sunday. Overall a great production and brought great memories back from our early marriage times when we watched the older version.

I pick a classic and read it every year. The one from 2022 was William Makepeace Thackeray’s Vanity Fair, which I have read two times in my life prior to 2022, and if I did not have a long list of books to read already, I would read it again! I wanted to see it on screen and chose Olivia Cooke’s series on Amazon Prime… and managed to finish it on the break. It was great revisiting yet another production of the the iconic Ms. Sharp after a long time! The series is well-made overall and great journey in the culture of England from early 19th century. Olivia Cooke did a great job along with John Flynn (the divine, mature and sensible Mr. Knightley from Emma) and Claudia Jessie (the fiercely independent and intelligent Eloise from Bridgerton). Great cast for a great classic!

Hope your Thanksgiving was great too!
